These are about all I have right now. I am waiting on some parts to come in and for the car to come back from the body shop. I am having the engine bay painted.

Most all of my parts will be in this week. I am hoping to have my car back the end of the week if not next week. While its all apart I am putting on my coilovers, doing the 300Z brakes, 5 lug conversion, bshing kit, putting in a Nismo LSD and a few other things. I am hoping to have it running by the end of the month then back to the body shop to have the rest of the car painted and have the body kit put on. Just depends on how much time I can get away from real life to work on it.

PostPosted: Tue Mar 11, 2008 9:39 am    Post subject: A few questions Reply with quote

1. Are most of you mounting up the tranny then attaching the engine after or all at once?

2. Are these bolts supposed to be here or should I remove them?

3. My LS1 Engine is from an 04 GTO. Does this look like the GTO Dipstick and Tube? It seems to sit higher than the intake and I am not sure if it will clear the hood. I think the salvage yard may have put a different one on it.

4. I have been told that these 2 nipples off of the water pump can be hooked to the heater core. Does anyone know which is inlet and outlet or if it matters?

5. On the left valve cover towards the back there is this black rubber nipple cover. Should there be a hose to this?

6. What should connect to this nipple under the throttle body?

7.Has anyone made their factory cruise control work with the LS1?

I know its alot of questions but any help is appreciated!

Thanks

AFIK, the dipstick can be bent a little is needed.

The heater hoses can go either way.

The motor and tranny can be mounted as an assembly, the easiest method is to slide the whole thing under the car, then lift up.

I didn't use the cruise control, but I don't think it will work with the stock ls1 tb.

The nipple under the throttle body is for coolant. You can leave it disconnected from the coolant and run a line back to the other side of the TB. This is a common mod known as TB bypass.

You're painting before doing the swap? May I ask why?

Looks like you have an aftermarket shifter possibly. Those bolts are the shift stops. Do not remove them.

I am changing the color from grey to black. I am only having the engine bay painted for now while its empty. Once the engine bay is painted I will put in the LS1, get it running and then take it back to get the rest painted. I am also having the spare tire well removed so I can put a fuel cell in the center to allow for dual exhaust.

Well, good luck with not scratching it to shit while you're trying to get that LS1 to fit.

Honestly, the best way to do it would be to do the swap, pull it out, paint, reinstall.

Probably right. I am not too woried about a few scratches in the bay. If they can be seen I will just touch up later.

How about that nipple on the back of the left valve cover? Anyone know what I should do there?
